The Sandy Ground Project

A few weeks ago, I photographed the new playground equipment at the Sea Bright beach and was overjoyed at the fact that it had a large sign on it that shows the hand-shapes used in American Sign Language.  I thought that was just so wonderful.  At the time, I did not know that the new playground would be the first of 26 to be built in memory of people lost in the Newtown Sandy Hook shooting tragedy.  When I went to Sea Bright yesterday, I saw the playground was covered in green and white ribbons, there were some flowers and shells with hand-written notes and there was a sign in dedication to Anne Marie Murphy.  Ms. Murphy was a special education teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary school and she was killed with her arms wrapped around a 6-year old student.  Teachers are truly special people.  They love and protect our children in addition to helping to mold them into the adults they will become.  May God be with all of those lost on December 14, 2012.  For more information about the project, visit http://www.thesandygroundproject.org/
